Re: No Good Reason's Not to wear Your Seatbelt

School age childern are that, children. By the time most people get the right to drive a vehicle they are adults or old enough to quit school. If your old enough to drive your old enough to decide if you want to wear a seatbelt or not, I'm not wearing mine. It's just another way the government can get money off writing tickets and is pushed by these groups who continually approve of more government involvement in our daily lifes.

I'm just waiting for someone to write a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt in a state that doesn't have a helmet law. You could so beat that in court.

Re: No Good Reason's Not to wear Your Seatbelt

You wont catch me driving so much as 10 feet without a seatbelt on. That's my choice.
I cant say I agree with it being a law but I really wish everyone would wear theirs.

As for children, it shouldn't be an option (like the child car seats/booster seats).
You'll shoot your eye out.

I agree completely with you about car seats and booster seats. I think that once you are an adult, you have the right to choose.

But won't it give the government MORE money by choosing NOT to wear your seatbelt? If you have it on, you won't get a ticket, right?

Re: No Good Reason's Not to wear Your Seatbelt

If I ever get a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt, I might lose my mind and get arrested. If I don't wanna wear the [censored] thing i'm not going to. I wonder how many people have drown because they crashed into a lake and thier seatbelt was stuck or how many people have burnt to death because they couldn't get free. (I know of at least one)

Maybe if it was little harder to get a license there wouldn't be as many accidents, anyone can get a license, they don't care if you can drive as long as your willing to pay.

I hate the government charging you for everything that has anything to do with driving.
First you gotta buy the car, insurance, tags and title, then you gotta get your inspection sticker, county sticker, town sticker. Ya gotta pay to get your license, ya gotta pay to renew them, hell ya gotta pay to get a new one if you move and the address is wrong on your current license.

I got a speeding ticket once for 74 in a 55, I went to court, plead guilty, walked down the hall paid 160 bucks and was through with it. Then a month later DMV decides that I need to go to driving school, 75 more dollars and I was through with it. Then my employer tries to add me to the company insurance, but can't because my license were suspended, DMV says that I didn't attend driving school, I prove them wrong, and I'm still charged 85 dollars (actually only 75 dollars with a $10 processing fee) to have my license reinstated. 320 dollars for one lousy speeding ticket. Hard to say. But I know it would be a drop in the bucket compared to the thousands upon thousands that are killed because they are too stubborn or hard headed to simply buckle up. The statistics would be staggeringly lopsided for those killed because they weren't wearing a seatbelt when compared to those killed because they were.

Maybe they should do the seatbelt deal like some states have talked about doing if they repeal the motorcycle helmet laws. Eliminate the legal requirement that you must wear your seatbelt. But if you're hurt in an accident and you're not wearing your seatbelt. You have to pay your own medical costs.

Those stats don't mean nothing to me, because everytime there is a fatal car crash, anyone in the vehicle not wearing a seatbelt goes down under the statistic, "if they had been wearing a seatbelt they would have lived".

This is retarded for anyone to think, it's like the Tennessee radio commercial, "2000 people died on Tennessee roads last year because they didn't have a seat belt on"

Now do you think that all of those 2000 people would have lived had they buckled up, HHEEELLLL NOOOO they wouldn't have, if it's your time to go then it's your time, no seatbelt is gonna change gods plan.

Re: No Good Reason's Not to wear Your Seatbelt

Here's thought for you. If you car is traveling 55 mph down the highway and is impacted in an accident and comes to a sudden stop. If you are unrestrained in the vehicle your body is then propelled forward into the dash, windshield, ect. at the same speed the car is traveling when it's momentum has stopped or changed. Also a vast number of motor vehicle fatalities deal with ejections from the vehicle thus another good reason to wear a belt. Sure they're times a seat belt isn't gonna save you if the accident is bad enough. But most times it will and most times it may even prevent serious injuries.

Seat Belts save lives. To say otherwise would be more "retarded" I think. But to each there own. If you don't want to wear it because you think it's uncomfortable, hey that's great and I understand that. But please just say that's the reason and don't use ludicrous excuses like seat belts kill or seat belts don't save lives. Because that's just silly. More power to ya if you don't want to wear it.

Comforts not a problem, I just don't like wearing it. They prolly do save some lives, but that's not the reason it's a law to wear it, it's a law because the government figured out how to make more money and make the public think the law is for there own good. I'm not saying seatbelts are bad and nobody should wear them, i'm just saying that 90% or more of all driving laws aren't to protect the people, it's just easy money.
